Lucy Liu was born in the US. She is an American actor, singer and voice actor. As an intelligent and attractive actress, she serves as a role model for several Asian actors in Hollywood who wish to make it big. After several appearances on popular television series and movies, she gained fame for her role in the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. It was a moment of fame that led to movie roles, such as Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. Her performance was outstanding as Japanese gangster O-Ren Ishii (Quentin Tarantino) in Kill Bill Volume 1 by Quentin Tarantino. At the same time, she was playing the lead role in a few films that failed at the box office, such as Rise: Blood Hunter. In later years, she worked as a voice actress for animated films including Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was a small role that failed to have any impact. Southland is a critically-acclaimed series of police dramas which featured Liu in recurring parts, helped to establish her as an actress.
