Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life through her vivid and broad imagination. Before she learned to read and write Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own music. After 8 years of age, she was playing her first guitar. In the age of 11 she started singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. In the that same time, Gold Band Records was an independent label. She made a name for herself locally while still in high school but she always dreamed of having a bigger stage. The year 1964 was the day after her high school graduation the singer moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time was searching for a female singer for his show. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. It was not until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's band because the popularity of her individual records like Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene was outstripping their joint efforts. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), hit the number. number 1 position after the duo broke up. 1. for the first time in 1974.
